The highly anticipated film "Kalki 2898 AD" starring Prabhas is generating a buzz with its advance ticket sales

Ticket prices for the film are being sold at a premium in major cities across India. In Mumbai, tickets are priced at Rs 2000, while in Delhi they are being sold for Rs 1800. In Hyderabad, the tickets are comparatively cheaper at Rs 500.

With such high ticket prices, the film is targeting a massive Rs 50 crore in advance sales, indicating the strong anticipation and excitement among fans.

Although the Andhra Pradesh government has approved ticket price hikes for Kalki 2898 AD, the highest ticket prices in Hyderabad remain considerably lower than those in Mumbai and Delhi.

With just one day to go, "Kalki 2898 AD" is set to break records with its advance ticket sales. The highly anticipated pan-Indian film, starring Prabhas alongside a cast of legendary actors, is drawing major attention, particularly in the Andhra Pradesh and Telangana regions. However, it is also creating a significant buzz in key Hindi-speaking markets such as Delhi and Mumbai.

According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the film has already sold over 1.4 million tickets, raking in Rs 38 crore in advance sales. The numbers are expected to soar, potentially reaching the Rs 50 crore mark before its official release on Thursday.

Sacnilk's projections suggest that "Kalki 2898 AD" could make a massive impact with an estimated domestic debut of Rs 120 crore to Rs 140 crore. Overseas, the film is anticipated to bring in around Rs 60 crore, aiming for a grand worldwide opening of Rs 180 crore to Rs 200 crore.

If these projections hold, "Kalki 2898 AD" could become only the third Indian film ever to surpass a Rs 200 crore opening day, following the footsteps of SS Rajamouli’s blockbusters "RRR" and "Baahubali 2: The Conclusion." Interestingly, "Baahubali 2" also featured Prabhas, who now holds the unique distinction of starring in four of the top 10 biggest global debuts in the history of Indian cinema.

The Andhra Pradesh government has temporarily sanctioned an increase in movie ticket prices for “Kalki 2898 AD” under a special provision for 'super high budget films,' allowing them to recover costs effectively. This move is significant since Andhra Pradesh typically regulates ticket prices, unlike most other regions in India. The government has permitted a hike of Rs 75 per ticket in single screens and Rs 125 per ticket in multiplexes for this film.

On the ticketing platform BookMyShow, the highest-priced tickets for “Kalki 2898 AD” in Hyderabad are being sold for Rs 505 before taxes. In stark contrast, tickets for Shah Rukh Khan’s “Pathaan” last year were priced as high as Rs 2200 in some Delhi locations.

Comparatively, ticket prices in Hyderabad remain much lower than those in Delhi and Mumbai. For instance, a 3D screening ticket at PVR Director’s Cut in Gurugram’s Ambience Mall is priced at Rs 1850 before taxes for Saturday evening. At Delhi's Epicuria in Nehru Place, a 3D screening ticket costs Rs 1670, while PVR Select CityWalk is selling tickets for Rs 1700. The most expensive 2D tickets in Delhi for the same day are priced at Rs 800. This represents approximately a 2X increase over regular ticket prices for opening weekend shows.

In Mumbai, the priciest ticket for "Kalki" is Rs 2000 before taxes, available at PVR’s exclusive drive-in venue, Jio World Drive. For a 3D experience, INOX at Worli is selling tickets at Rs 1760 for a Saturday evening show. Meanwhile, recliner seats at PVR Phoenix Palladium in Lower Parel are priced at Rs 1330. Across India, the Andhra Pradesh and Telangana regions alone have generated over Rs 27 crore in advance sales, despite the tickets being significantly cheaper.
